Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Delta State, Chief Napoleon Newyear Iffie, has commiserated with the family of late Chief Lucky Okoro who was assassinated last Sunday, describing his death as painful.
Iffie who made this known when he paid condolence visit to the family of late Chief Lucky Okoro at Ekpan, condemned in strong terms the attack that took the life of Late Chief Okoro at Egborode Junction, along Sapele Effurun Road in Okpe Local Government Area by unknown gunmen.
Iffie accompanied by Chief Mavis Gbegbaje, Secretary, Ekpan Council of Chiefs, Magbaja Eghrudje, Ekpan Youth President, Magbaja and others, called on the Inspectors General of Police to beef up security on highways and major roads around Delta Central Senatorial District.
According to him, the police have to sit-up and nip in the bud all forms of crimes and criminal activities in Uvwie, environs and Delta State at large.
He described the incident as disturbing and unwarranted, saying Late Chief Okoro was a peace loving man who I believe does not have enemies across board. “Not even when he was The Youth President of the Community”.
“On behalf of the Ekpan people, I condemn the murder of our dear brother by yet to be identified gunmen. I also commiserate with the family over this unfortunate demise of my dear friend and brother”, he added.
He called on the police and other security agencies to fish out those behind the heinous crime and bring them to justice.
